Green Party would tax 'super wealthy' to fund NHS & social care | Election 2024

In the run-up to Election 2024, the Green Party has unveiled a bold proposal to secure an additional 50 billion pounds per year by 2030 to bolster our health and social care system.

This initiative aims to address the longstanding issue of underfunding and austerity that has plagued the national health service for over a decade.

Years of financial strain have resulted in heartbreaking accounts of patients struggling to access timely healthcare services and a shortage of general practitioners for urgent appointments. Furthermore, past private finance initiatives have left numerous trusts and care facilities burdened with substantial debt.

To finance this crucial investment, the Green Party advocates for a 1% tax on assets exceeding 10 million pounds for multi-millionaires and billionaires.

Additionally, the proposal includes aligning capital gains tax with income tax, estimated to generate a substantial 40 to 60 billion pounds annually for reinvestment in our national health service.

Addressing concerns about the potential flight of the super wealthy due to increased taxation, the Green Party emphasizes that people are drawn to live and invest in the UK because of familial ties, cultural roots, and historical connections.

Those who hesitate to contribute to essential services like education, policing, and healthcare should be called upon to support a fair and equitable society.

Focusing on enhancing its parliamentary representation, the Green Party highlights its recent success in securing more councilors in the previous local elections.

Every vote for the Green Party signifies a commitment to real change and advocates for additional Green MPs who will champion a proactive and efficient government.

Responding to queries about a missing birth policy pledge on the website, the Green Party elaborates on its transparent policy-setting process, which involves democratic decision-making through every member's vote at the national conference.

The ongoing collaboration with health spokespersons and manifesto working groups ensures that policies are shaped with the input of diverse voices.

Though specific policy details are set to be unveiled in the upcoming manifesto launch next Wednesday, the Green Party looks forward to sharing its comprehensive vision for the country.

Thank you for engaging in discussions that shape our collective future. Together, we can pave the way for a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive society through informed decision-making in Election 2024.
